Cinderford continued their strong start to the new season as they overcame previously unbeaten Exeter University 25-12 in National 2 West at the Bell Sports and Rugby Park.
Cinderford opened the scoring with a well-worked attack from the backs which sent scrum-half Josh Horrobin over the line, Luke McMahon converting.
Two penalties from Benji Mills kept Exeter in contention before former Gloucester and Italy star Jake Polledri was awarded a try at the base of a driving maul, and McMahon landed a penalty to make it 15-6 at half-time.
The students opened the scoring in the second half with another penalty from Mills and he soon added a fourth.
Cinderford regained the initiative when Sam Baker was driven over for a try, and they repeated the feat to secure their bonus point in the closing stages, Harry Tovey claiming the try.
Lydney remain unbeaten in Regional 1 South West after edging out Brixham 10-7.
Tom Broady's try opened the scoring, and Brad Dunn scored in the corner to make it 10-0 for the Severnsiders at half-time.
Brixham responded with a converted try and were camped in the Lydney 22 in stoppage time, as some superb last man tackles kept them out.
Matson kick-started their season with a 25-19 win at Chew Valley, opening the scoring with a penalty from Ryan Woodhouse, followed by a try from Aaron Morefield, converted by Ryan Woodhouse, but Chew Valley came back with two tries, one converted, to lead 12-10 at half-time.
The second half saw Matson pack take control of the game, as Woodhouse kicked another penalty before Connor Gwilliam scored an outstanding try under the posts for Woodhouse to convert.
Matson then added to their tally with an unconverted try from Finlay Young and took the win despite Chew Valley finishing the game with a converted try.
Newent edged out Newport (Salop) 33-29 with the last play of a Regional 1 Midlands game with six yellow cards and a red.
Newport's ex-Hartpury tighthead James Tideswell saw the first yellow, and Will Hartland scored the opening try as Tom Webb added a good conversion - but Newport levelled with a converted score.
From the restart, Newent were turned over at the breakdown but Jim Hartland charged down the attempted clearance and touched down, Webb converting.
The lead was short-lived again as Newport responded to make it 14-14 and they then edged 21-14 in front with a third converted score.
Ethan Allan broke from the back of the maul to touchdown in 'cauldron corner' but Webb couldn't convert on this occasion, so Newport retained a narrow 21-19 lead, which they held at half-time after yellows for Newent's Dan Fletcher and Newport's Ollie Bird.
Early in the second half, it became 14 v 13 as Ted Bailey was caught late and high by Newport blindside Callum Bradbury, who was red-carded - but no sooner had Ollie Bird and Dan Fletcher returned, than the yellow card was out again, shown to Uluaki Kale after another late hit on Tom Webb.
Newport kicked a three-pointer and they then scored an unconverted try to extend their lead to 29-19 despite their numerical disadvantage - before Allen was yellow carded following another indiscretion at the breakdown
Newport's cause was not helped by another yellow card, and Fletcher crossed to the right of the posts, Webb converting to reduce the deficit to 29-26 - and in stoppage time, Will Hartland was tackled just short but Ethan White picked up to crash over for the winning try converted by Webb.
Drybrook drew 22-22 with Bridgnorth, going in front with try for Mitch Bourne, converted by Josh Burnett.
But Drybrook fumbled a high kick allowing the visitors in for a converted try to level things up.
Drybrook took the lead going into the break when Harry Appleton powered over in the corner and early in the second half a Burnett penalty made it 15-7.
Bridgnorth brought themselves level with another try and a penalty of their own, and with two minutes left they broke through for a converted try to lead 22-15.
But when Bridgnorth conceded a penalty five metres from their line, Drybrook opted for the scrum.
Bridgnorth were shunted backwards on two occasions and collapsed both times, the ref producing the yellow card.
Another penalty and another scrum saw the same result, and the referee awarded a penalty try to leave honours even.
Stow win 22-20 at Old Halesonians in Regional 2 Midlands West, Gus Hayward with two tries and Zeb Waite one, Charlie Slatter kicking a penalty and two conversions.
Longlevens were 31-17 winners over Cheltenham in Regional 2 Severn, the opening score coming through Isaac Meredith, with Brad Wilkins adding the extras.
Cheltenham hit back almost immediately, levelling the game at 7-7 before edging 10-7 ahead with a penalty.
Just before the break, Tom Hayes powered over for Longlevens, sending the Griffins into the interval with a narrow 14-10 lead.
The second half remained scrappy, and Longlevens paid the price when a loose pass was picked off for an interception try, swinging the scoreboard back to 17-14 for Cheltenham.
But Meredith crossed again for his second try, unconverted, to nudge Longlevens back ahead at 19-17 and Steve Phillips capped his industrious display with a try, extending the lead to 26-17, before the final word went to Piers Fortey to seal the win.
Old Centralians scored tries through Akeem Richards, Gav Deane and Harry Preece, but lost 23-20 at Newbury Blues, Deane kicking a conversion and a penalty.
Several clubs started their RFU Community Cup campaigns and Chosen Hill Former Pupils had a walkover against Corsham in the Counties 1 South Plate, while Gordon League were handed a bye.
In the Counties 2 Championship, Smiths won their local derby with Old Patesians, beating them 31-7 Smiths scored tries through Archie Long, Mitch Renton, Duncan Spurrier and Harrison Cooper-Meadows , Oli Aherne converting all four and adding a penalty.
Cheltenham North had a walkover against Old Richians as did Old Elizabethans against Bream.
Stroud were 10-7 winners over Imperial in the Counties 2 South Plate, with a try, conversion and penalty from Dean Tattersall, while Tewkesbury had a walkover against Fairford.
Kurtis Herbert and Will Pinnell both crossed twice as Coney Hill won 30-7 at Berry Hill in the Counties 3 & Below Championship.
Joe Twomey scored the other while Ash Lewis kicked a conversion and a penalty.
Bredon Star were 42-14 winners over Old Yardleians with tries for Matty Peters (two), George Gallagher, Reece Dickenson, Will Wilson and Ed Peters, Harry Tarrant with six conversions.
Hucclecote beat Cirencester 57-21, Jon Hogg, Charles Cook, Harry Leftwich (two), Mike Graves (two), Lewis Cameron and Fred Baldwin-Foot going over, with Josh McGill adding a penalty and seven conversions.
A penalty from Marty Cummings gave Spartans an 18-15 win over Gloucester Old Boys, the Red Ants scoring tries through Phil Sutton and Fin Sabato, Cummings also kicking another penalty and a conversion, while Niall Galvin and Matt Owen responded for Old Boys, Tig Galvin with a penalty and a conversion.
Swindon College Old Boys had a walkover against Brockworth.
Minchinhampton won 22-19 at CCS Warpigs in the Counties 3 & Below Central Plate with tries by Gabriel Sparkhall, Jonny Acton, Sammy Counter, Curtis Taylor and a conversion for Archie Mathison, while there were walkovers for Cheltenham Saracens against Harwell and for Old Cryptians against Ross-on-Wye.
Cheltenham Tigers made it two Women's Championship North 1 wins out of two with a 17-5 success over Lichfield.
Amalia Westerlund, Chloe Butterworth and Jess Dadds scored tries, with a conversion for Anna Howes.
Megan Meek scored a hat-trick of tries as Drybrook were 52-0 winners over Reading Kites in Women's NC 1 South West (East)
Millie Purser and Courtney Webb both crossed twice, with Ruth Leslie, Becky Jones and Lauren Wall also scoring tries, while Maizie Morgan added a conversion.
Hucclecote went down 32-12 to Ellingham & Ringwood despite tries for Paige Allen and Bridgette Fraser, Chloe Barrow with a conversion.
Cheltenham North ran in 14 tries as they won 90-5 over Aretians in Women's NC 2 South West (North).
Asinate Nabitu crossed five times, Merewai Nasilasila, Hannah Kibble and Nat Stone scored twice with Laura Thomas, Paige Danter-Workman and Neve Cox getting the others, Elodie Brown converting 10 of the tries.
In Women's NC 3 South West (North), CCS Norton were 33-14 winners over Pershore, with Alexandra Jones scoring two tries and Amber Wilkins, Jasmine Parsons and Chloe Parry one each, Bethany Price with three conversions and Amber Coxhill one.
Erin Jay's hat-trick helped Cinderford to a 38-19 win over Minchinhampton, Chlo Sharpe, Laura Brynes and Nic Turley with the other tries, while there were two conversions apiece for Lily Walker and Amy Thorne.
Chloe Oakford, Issy Cooke and Lauren Manley scored the Minch tries with two conversions by Rhian Evans.
