Former Munster Rugby star Ronan O'Mahony and Cork hurling legend Sean Og O'hAilpin were out and about in Killarney early this Saturday morning for a 6.00am hike of Ireland's highest mountain.
They gathered at the base of Carrauntoohill for the start of the Arachas 26 Mountains-2 Mayo Challenge with over 20 business leaders, from across Ireland and the UK, scaling the highest peak in every county in Ireland to raise funds for charity.
In the process they will cover nearly 11,000 meters of elevation -1.25 times the height of Mount Everest - to raise an incredible €1million for children and families impacted by cancer while supporting the Cancer Fund for Children.
Ireland's largest insurance broker, Arachas, is the sponsor of the 26 Mountains 2 Mayo Challenge and the gritty participants will push themselves push their limits, physically and mentally, from June 7-15.
