Brad Pitt made a triumphant return to the big screen earlier this year with the sports drama F1, with the Hollywood icon proving that he can still hold pole position at the box office. Following a hugely successful run in theaters, it has now reportedly been revealed when audiences will be able to climb back into the driver's seat and stream the movie at home.

Directed by Top Gun: Maverick's Joseph Kosinski from a screenplay by Ehren Kruger, F1 stars Brad Pitt as a former Formula One racing driver who returns to the sport to help an underdog team of drivers. Co-starring Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, and Javier Bardem alongside Pitt, the movie was met with both critical acclaim and box office success, scoring the biggest worldwide total in Brad Pitt's career.

F1 will join the cavalcade of movies landing on Digital not long after their theatrical release, with the sports drama hitting VOD and digital platforms later this month on August 22, according to When to Stream. While this has not yet been officially confirmed by either Apple TV+ or Warner Bros. Pictures, it does line up with the ongoing pattern of surprisingly speedy home releases. You can check out the official synopsis for F1 below...

Dubbed "the greatest that never was," Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) was FORMULA 1's most promising phenom of the 1990s until an accident on the track nearly ended his career. Thirty years later, he's a nomadic racer-for-hire when he's approached by his former teammate Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), owner of a struggling FORMULA 1 team that is on the verge of collapse. Ruben convinces Sonny to come back to FORMULA 1 for one last shot at saving the team and being the best in the world. He'll drive alongside Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), the team's hotshot rookie intent on setting his own pace. But as the engines roar, Sonny's past catches up with him and he finds that in FORMULA 1, your teammate is your fiercest competition--and the road to redemption is not something you can travel alone.

'F1' Boasts a Score of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes

Not only does F1 now hold the title of Brad Pitt's highest-grossing movie, as well as being the eighth highest-grossing movie of 2025, it is also one of the iconic actor's highest-rated. The adrenaline-fueled sports outing was well-received by both critics and audiences alike, with the former "scoring" F1 82% on Rotten Tomatoes and praising Pitt's "laidback magnetism" and "kinetic direction" of Joseph Kosinski.

Audiences were even more enamored, with F1 landing a near-perfect 97% on the Popcornmeter. The consensus reads, "Fueled by Brad Pitt's effortless charisma, F1 The Movie, is a velociously loud and exceedingly exciting motion picture that deserves to be experienced on the biggest screen possible." While MovieWeb's own Julian Roman took issue with F1's "formulaic" approach, he too heaped praised on Pitt's lead performance.

"F1 succeeds in its primary goal of bringing the thrills of elite motorsport racing to the silver screen, as Brad Pitt kicks asphalt in a pedal-to-the-metal summer blockbuster that'll get your adrenaline pumping. Director Joseph Kosinski knows how to shoot epic action and remains at the pinnacle of his game; theaters will literally rumble as the world's fastest Formula One cars thunder around exotic global circuits with stunning cinematography and sharp editing. Unfortunately, however, F1 is also entirely predictable, with one-note characters. If only the talented and gorgeous ensemble had a better screenplay, one that didn't broadcast their every intention."
