Ferrari has introduced the 296 Speciale with the Piloti Ferrari setup, a tribute to its client-racing drivers. This unique configuration celebrates victories in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and honours those involved in Ferrari's racing activities. The debut took place at Circuit de la Sarthe, coinciding with the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans, where Ferrari's racing legacy is celebrated.
The 296 Speciale draws inspiration from the 499P, which triumphed at Le Mans in 2023 and 2024. This exclusive model is available in four racing-inspired colours: Rosso Scuderia, Blu Tour De France, Nero Daytona, and Argento Nürburgring. The exterior features a Giallo Modena finish with a hand-painted WEC logo and an Italian flag on the front bumper.
The Piloti Ferrari setup offers customisable interior details that reflect endurance racing themes. Racing seats are upholstered in black Alcantara with inserts made from fireproof fabric used in official drivers' suits. The cabin also includes a carbon fibre livery number and a customisable metal footwell surface.
A carbon identification plaque and door sill with a personalised dedication complete the interior personalisation. These elements highlight the shared passion for competition among Ferrari's client-racing drivers. The model unveiled at Le Mans bears number 51, commemorating Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado, and Antonio Giovinazzi's victory in 2023.
The 296 Speciale represents an advanced evolution of Ferrari's mid-rear-engined berlinetta. It combines a twin-turbo V6 engine with an electric motor for a total output of 880 cv. The internal combustion engine (ICE) has been lightened and reinforced using Formula 1 components to enhance performance.
The hybrid system delivers maximum power output of 648 kW (880 cv), while eDrive mode provides up to 113 kW (154 cv). With a battery capacity of 7.45 kWh, it offers an electric range of up to 25 km. The car's compact design integrates technical solutions like rear gamma wings and enlarged diffusers.
Performance Enhancements
The chassis has been revised for more responsive track behaviour, while aerodynamic downforce has increased by 20% compared to the 296 GTB. Weight reduction further enhances driving dynamics. An extra boost software strategy ensures full power during high-performance laps.
The transmission features an optimised eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox for quicker gear changes. This setup maximises electric torque delivery for engaging driving experiences. The car achieves speeds over 330 km/h and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds.
499P: A Return to Top-Tier Racing
The 499P marked Ferrari's return to top-tier endurance racing after five decades away from FIA World Endurance Championship's top class. Designed under LMH regulations, it features a carbon-fibre monocoque chassis and double wishbone suspension.
This Hypercar combines a twin-turbo V6 engine with a front electric motor for around 680 cv output and active all-wheel drive above speeds of 190 km/h. Its aerodynamics are optimised for efficiency across various circuits.
