'Worst display of the season' - Shrimpers fans have their say on defeat to Eastleigh

We lack the strength in depth that I think everyone was hoping we had. If we are to have ambitions of finishing anywhere near top, we just can't do tonight more than once or twice more, let alone those dropped points at home. It feels like the lottery of the play offs at best.

Obviously disappointing and probably our worst performance of the season but it happens. Let's win the next two games and the replies to this question will be forgotten.

@easymorninrebel

We desperately miss Husin, no intensity about us going forward and even more evident when we can't defend, Hayes has to start Saturday.

Worst performance of the season by far. Wealdstone and Boston played out of their skins to take points off us. Tonight Eastleigh just had to turn up. We had no ideas.

@AllAtSeaFanzine

Maher still deserves our backing but this game demonstrated his team's worst failings, too slow, predictable and no urgency. Worrying we only start to play when one down, same as Boston. Dallas excellent, Kendall and Husin big miss, keeper familiarly weak.

@NeilWakefield20

We seem to be unable to break any team down with a low block. Saw it against York, Hartlepool and Boston and that's 4 points dropped at home. Tonight was a shambles. But I still believe in this team and King Kev.

@tySUFC

Awful. We will not get out of this league under Maher playing this sort of football. No excuses this season, no reason we shouldn't be challenging at the top. Nine points off of first place already is going to be tough to make up.

@peebeebee76

We've taken four points from the last 12 and we should have taken at least seven, if not 10. Not good enough. Same story, unable to break teams down. No press from the front again. Subs too late.

@sufcnum1

Very poor! We didn't play well and we don't score enough goals. Even after 10 games we're already way off the top two places. Early days yes, but even a play-off place is going to be a lot harder than I first thought it would be. Two tough games next and need to win them both now!

@tommyharris57

We aren't good enough, end of. We seem to think we are better than we actually are. We miss Kendall. We are naive. We are lightweight. Being a Southend fan is so exhausting: watching us lose to Eastleigh and Wealdstone. Another season in the NL beckons I fear. Hurt.

@JamesBurton90

Listen COSU! I know we're stuck with strikers on long contracts but some of the unbudgeted revenue (Kelman + 8k home crowds) must be put into the kind of big target man essential in this league. A false economy to put it all towards servicing debt and undermining promotion hopes.
