South Carolina and Vanderbilt will meet on the gridiron this weekend. Both teams are 2-0 on the 2025 season, but the Gamecocks are shooting for 17-0. Carolina has not lost to Vandy since 2008, a span of 16 victories in a row.
Let's take a look at each game of that streak.
Following back-to-back losses in 2007 and 2008, South Carolina bounced back with a victory in 2009. Steve Spurrier's team would win throughout the rest of his tenure. Then, in 2015, interim head coach Shawn Elliott beat the Commodores before Will Muschamp won in all five tries. Shane Beamer is 4-0 against Vandy.
Seven of South Carolina's 16 wins during this stretch came by 10 points or fewer. The Gamecocks have surrendered more than 20 points just four times, a number they've reached in all but four tries.
