EUGENE -- Oregon and Utah State have canceled two of their three future nonconference football games.
The schools amended what was to be a three-year series from 2027-29, with two games in Eugene and one in Logan, Utah, to one matchup on Sept. 15, 2029 at Autzen Stadium.
UO will pay USU $1.2 million per the amended game contract, which was released to The Oregonian/OregonLive in response to a public records request. That's an increase from the $875,000 payout that was agreed to in the original contract, signed in April 2020, which called for the sides to exchange $300,000 in 2027-28.
The cancellation of the games in 2027 and 2028 create openings for Oregon, which has yet to schedule games against Oregon State beyond 2025. UO's 2026 nonconference slate is presently full.
It's the latest alteration to Oregon's nonconference footballs schedules, which have seen a series of changes since the school's move to the Big Ten. Its future game at Hawaii was canceled, Texas Tech's game in Eugene was moved from 2024 to 2033, and a game at Boise State was also canceled as UO adjusted its schedule to include a home-and-home with OSU in 2024-25.
Oregon is 4-0 all-time in the series against Utah State, with the first meeting coming in 1976 and the last in 2008.
