New Blues strike partnership will 'cause chaos'

The Blues are looking ahead to the new season with quite a formidable front line shaping up.

The addition of teenage goalscoring sensation Remus Nixon from AFC Totton - alongside the prolific Borthwick - is set to create fear in Wessex League Premier defenders, according to Critchell.

Borthwick scored 36 goals last season for the Blues and Downton whilst Nixon has already hit form scoring four goals in pre-season since signing.

When asked about how the duo will link up together next season, Critchell said: They are a handful and at our level they will cause chaos."

Critchell also believes that Nixon will thrive at the Camp & Satherley and is a player he has monitored for a while.

He added: "We are delighted to have him. He's needed a home for a while and not necessarily enjoyed his football but he is enjoying himself here and when you enjoy yourself that's when you play your best."

With players like Josh Camp and Pat Jenkins also in the squad to provide firepower, the Blues should pose a real threat against any opposition next campaign.

The Blues boss was also pleased that he was able to keep hold of players like Borthwick and Camp as well as bringing back Jenkins.

He believes that keeping the squad together will only serve to improve the team and push them higher up the league.

He continued: "We have got a real desire in the group to hold each other accountable.

"I pleaded with everyone to stay, that's what makes teams a success, that's how you achieve things.

"It's a good stepping stone forward and we are all aligned for the future."
