Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule praises his offensive coaching staff

Thomas is in his second year at Nebraska and has a history of working with Matt Rhule. The two previously spent a combined five years together at Baylor and Temple, where Thomas held similar titles.

Through three games this season, the Huskers are averaging 545.0 yards per game, which ranks No. 10 in the nation in total offense. They rank No. 9 in scoring offense with an average of 49.0 points per game.

Quarterback Dylan Raiola has 829 passing yards and eight touchdowns with a QBR of 82.2. Freshman TJ Lateef is also seeing success in his young career. The backup QB is 11 of 12 for 254 passing yards and a touchdown while adding five carries for 32 yards and two touchdowns.

Rhule believes that Thomas's push for perfection is one of the things that make him a great coach.

Offensive Coordinator Dana Holgorsen is in his first full season as the OC after taking over the job eight games into last year. The Husker offense was struggling at the time of his arrival, ranking 96th in total offense, averaging 354.1 yards per game, and 99th in scoring offense, with an average of 23.6 points per game.

Holgorsen spent 13 years as the head coach at West Virginia and Houston and holds a career record of 92-69. Before his head coaching career, Holgorsen was one of college football's most successful offensive coordinators with stops at Texas Tech, Houston, and Oklahoma State. During his time as an OC, his offenses averaged a second-place finish in passing offense, third in total offense, and sixth in scoring offense.

Rhule also believes that Thomas and Holgorsen are a perfect combination due to their backgrounds in different schemes.

Nebraska (3-0) will return to action Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT when the Huskers welcome the Michigan Wolverines (2-1) to Memorial Stadium. The game is expected to be the 406th consecutive home sellout and can be seen on CBS.
