'Great' £38 Amazon watch is 'better and easier' than Apple Watch

Amazon customers have been raving about a budget-friendly smartwatch that delivers nearly all the features of premium brands like Apple, Fitbit or Google. But, it comes at a fraction of the cost.

The Gydom Fitness Smartwatch, typically priced at £59.99, has been slashed to just £37.98 during a limited-time Amazon deal. While the device comes in various colour options, only select colours have been given maximum discount of almost 40% off.

Bargain hunters should focus on the 1.8-inch model available with either black or pink straps, both offering a reasonable £22 reduction. Alternative colour choices including blue, green, purple, and red silicone bands are available, though these are priced between £45 and £56, reports the Daily Record.

Customers have declared the waterproof gadget to be "better and easier than Apple" when it comes to both aesthetics and performance. The wearable piece of tech boasts plenty of applications and capabilities designed to streamline daily life.

It includes the ability to handle phone calls directly from your wrist and receive notifications from popular social platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Snapchat, and others. The smartwatch not only boasts Alexa voice assistant for setting alarms, checking the weather, and controlling music but also offers over 100 sports programmes to track various workouts like walking, running, cycling, or team sports such as cricket, basketball, or football.

For those inclined towards more renowned brands, the Apple Watch SE 2 (40mm) is retailing for £219 on Amazon, while the Samsung Galaxy Watch6 can be snagged from Argos for £279.

Customers have been quick to express their satisfaction with their purchases in reviews. One customer said: "It has a breathable silicone strap which is very comfortable to wear." Another commented: "Arrived quickly and very easy to set up. Been wearing a few days now and so far no issues."

A third added: "Honestly, better and easier than [an] Apple Watch once familiar with the features. Loving it [after a month of use]". But, it wasn't all glowing news from shoppers as a few did experience some issues.

A few were unhappy with the performance of the watch. One person said: "The app is confusing and in broken English. Difficult to navigate and update to own preferences such as goal weights. Step length also difficult to calibrate, I had completed a 5k walk and the watch only logged 200 steps. Not worth the money."

Another criticised: "Very cheaply made and flimsy. It's also quite bulky so if you have small wrists like me I wouldn't recommend it. Does as its supposed to but just can tell it's a cheap watch."

And, one more buyer who gave a one-star review said: "Not very accurate data at all. Said I was sleeping when I was going about my day and doing 100 steps during the night when I hadn't left my bed. Doesn't consistently measure heart rate." Despite these issues, many were pleased with their purchase, as one reviewer noted: "It offers many of the functions of an Apple watch at a tenth of the price of what you might pay for the base Apple SE watch."
