Galatasaray hosted Victor Osimhen to a lavish welcome party on a yacht at Galatasaray Islands in Istanbul after the striker joined the club permanently.

Osimhen spent last season on loan at Galatasaray and scored 37 goals and provided eight assists, which convinced the club to sign him permanently.

According to TRT Spor, the club paid a Turkish football record fee of €75 million to sign arguably the biggest superstar to play in Turkey in his prime.

He arrived at the Atatürk International Airport on Wednesday evening and met a crowd of supporters who had been waiting to welcome him.

The Super Eagles star had his medical examination and officially signed his contract on Thursday morning, after which he trained with his teammates.

The club has outlined a series of events to celebrate the striker's permanent arrival. The activities and materials produced have been branded "Solo il Gala".

Solo il Gala, which means "Only Gala", was the first words the striker said after boarding the plane that flew him from Germany to Istanbul on Wednesday.

The club broadcast live on Galatasaray TV, the Solo il Gala performances on a yacht at Galatasaray Islands on the Bosphorus water to welcome their newest star player.

It was restricted to exclusively invited members and broadcast to only paid subscribers on their channels, another means to generate revenue.

Victor Osimhen's transfer fee sent shockwaves across Turkish football as it was four times more than the existing record transfer in the country.

It raised questions about how Galatasaray plans to finance it, particularly after the agreement to pay the full €75 million before the end of 2026.

Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek has spoken about the discussions in the media. He clarified that the club made calculations before proceeding with the deal.

"We brought Osimhen to Galatasaray with a 4-year contract. There is a cost and a payment method. No one should think, 'This transfer has been made, how will it be paid?'," he said.

"There is no such thing. We planned this transfer when we made it, we calculated how this transfer would be paid and how the costs of this established squad will be met.

"Galatasaray has the revenues it earned from its past. Galatasaray is no longer where it was last year. Galatasaray has reached a new level."

Osimhen will earn €21 million net salary, including bonuses. He will cost the club €159 million in transfer fee and salary, excluding taxes for the four years of his contract.

Legit.ng reported that Osimhen wrote an emotional letter to Galatasaray fans after completing his long-awaited permanent move to the club.

The letter was contained in the Solo il Gala box, a merchandise range launched by the club to commemorate his arrival and generate revenue.
