Although Auburn University opens the season tonight at Baylor, we will keep the focus in this space where it always needs to be on Friday nights: Alabama high school football.
There are a few huge rivalry games in Week 2, the biggest of which is probably Class 7A Hoover traveling to take on Clemson commit Brock Bradley and Class 6A Spain Park.

We also will be watching Sammie Coates and Columbia High trying to end its 92-game losing streak against visiting Huffman and controverial coach Rush Propst and Coosa Christian hosting Propst's former team, Pell City, in an intriguing matchup.
Other top games to keep an eye on include Mountain Brook at Parker, Madison Academy at Randolph, Theodore at Spanish Fort and Mary G. Montgomery traveling to Gulf Shores.

6:45 PM, Big one in B'ham: Hoover tries to bounce back from last week's loss to IMG Academy when the Bucs travel to Spain Park tonight to face Clemson commit Brock Bradley and the Jags in one of the games to watch in Week 2.
6:38 PM, Underrated? Baker may be one of the more underrated Class 7A teams in the state. The Hornets got a big win last week at home against rival Theodore and now travel to Alma Bryant tonight to open Class 7A, Region 1 play.
6:30 PM, Early start: Class 7A No. 1 Thompson got an early start in its Week 2 game at Grayson, Ga. The Warriors and Grayson are tied 3-3 at the half. This would be a huge out-of-state win for Mark Freeman and the guys.
6 PM, The Best in Bama update: Randy Kennedy's list of the best high school football prospects in Alabama regardless of classification had a new No. 1 this week. See who moved to the top spot and the complete top 50 before tonight's full slate of high school games.
