Jim Gavin will represent Fianna Fáil in the upcoming Presidential election.

The former Dublin football manager was chosen at a parliamentary party meeting earlier today.

Members of the parliamentary party voted between Jim Gavin and Ireland South MEP Billy Kelleher.

He was selected as Fianna Fáil's candidate on a margin of 41 votes to 29.

Gavin is the third candidate confirmed, alongside Fine Gael's Heather Humphreys, and Independent Catherine Connolly, who has been endorsed by the Social Democrats and Labour.
