FCT FA vice chairman, Alhaji Salihu Kolo has stated that the league being organised by the football body is purposely designed to give a platform for young players to shine and display their skills and talents.

Kolo, who spoke with journalists during the finals of the League Division One and Two, which was competed for Sporting Dream FC and Golden Boys of Ushafa and One Touch FC and Federal Housing Authority, respectively, played on Wednesday at the Area 3 FIFA Goal Project Pitch in Abuja, commended the players for displaying the spirit of sportsmanship, adding that some of the players have already been pencilled down by top clubs in the Nigeria Football Premier League (NPFL), Nigeria National League (NNL) and others.

The vice chairman, who also doubles as chairman of the League Committee, commended the organising team for their dedication and for creating an atmosphere to compete.

He said, "This league is an annual event designed to identify and showcase young talents from the FCT. Already, some of the players have attracted interest from top-tier clubs in the NPFL, NNL and other national leagues.

"I must commend the organising team for their dedication. Their efforts ensured a peaceful atmosphere, no fights, and no disruptions. We witnessed competitive and promising football from all the teams, and that's the essence of this league."

He thanked the FCT FA chairman, Alhaji Abba Mohammed Mouktar, for his unflinching support, particularly in the areas of logistical support and the donation of trophies.

At the end of hostilities, One Touch FC whitewashed Federal Housing Authority (FHA) by 3 goals to nil to emerge as Division 2 winners, while Sporting Dream FC defeated Golden Boys of Ushafa by two unanswered goals to clinch the Division 1 League.

With their victory, Sporting Dream FC will represent the FCT in the upcoming Nigeria Nationwide League (NNL) national playoffs with clubs from other parts of the country.
