Barry Town sign former Wales under-21 international defender

Barry Town United have added central defender Keston Davies to the squad ahead of the 2025/26 Cymru Premier season.

The 28-year-old is a former Wales under-21 international who has also played for The New Saints and Pontypridd United.

Initially with the Swansea City Academy, he also spent four years with Fulham as a teenager before returning to the Swans once again.

Although he didn't make a senior appearance for the Swans, then in the Premier League, he played League Two football while on loan with Yeovil Town and Notts County.

Between 2019 and 2023, Davies played for The New Saints, part of a squad which won the Cymru Premier back-to-back in 2021/22 and 2022/23, and played in the 2022 Welsh Cup final victory over Penybont.

He also played for TNS in Europe against Viktoria Plzen and Glentoran amongst others.

Moving to Pontypridd in summer 2023, Davies made 30 competitive appearances in 2023/24 and in 24 games last season.

At Barry, he teams up again at centre half with Ben Margetson-Williams and goalkeeper George Ratcliffe, who were both team-mates at Pontypridd.

Off the field, there are also changes at Jenner Park this summer, with club secretary David Cole standing down from his role.

After becoming first involved with Barry Town in 1989, David Cole has been the club secretary for 22 years, or 740 matches, in a role which has continued to grow over the years - with additional requirements for Club Licensing (which allows Barry to compete in the Cymru Premier and Europe), safeguarding and player registration.

His role will now be covered by Daley Chapman, while David and his wife Lynne, also a volunteer at the club for many years, will be able to enjoy the football this season without worrying about off-field organisation.

The fixture list for Barry's new Cymru Premier season will be released on Thursday, July 10.
