David beckham, the former Manchester United and England soccer star, has been awarded a knighthood in King Charles' Birthday Honours list.The honor recognizes Beckham's contributions to sports and his extensive charity work.
Beckham, who also co-owns Inter Miami, has been a UNICEF ambassador as 2005 and an ambassador for The King's Foundation sence 2024. He expressed immense pride in receiving the knighthood, calling it an emotional moment for him and his family.
The former England captain earned 115 caps for his country, captaining the team in 59 games.He remains the only English player to score in three different World Cups. Beckham also played a part in London securing the 2012 Olympic Games.
Manchester United congratulated Beckham on social media, acknowledging his deserving achievement. Beckham was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2003.
His knighthood was reportedly delayed due to alleged involvement in a tax avoidance scheme,which he denied. Leaked emails in 2017 showed Beckham appearing to criticize the honors system, but his spokesperson claimed the emails were hacked and doctored.
