Darts maverick Bobby George has revealed he keeps a toe he had amputated in a bottle of booze. George was one of the sport's most colourful characters in the late 1970s, 80s and 90s.
Nicknamed the 'King of Bling' for a penchant for wearing copious amounts of jewellery, he was the runner-up at the BDO World Championship in 1980 and 1984 and won the prestigious News of the World title in 1979 and 1986. He also amassed sizeable wealth for his work on the exhibition scene and lives in a self-built 18-bedroom residence, which he named George Hall, on land he purchased more than 30 years ago. Taking pride of place alongside darts memorabilia is one of the four toes he had cut off in 1999 due to a genetic condition. While three were medically discarded, he was allowed to keep one, which is now on show in a bottle of vodka in his bar. Writing in his new autobiography, 'Still Here! The King of Bling', George, 79, said: "Nobody believes me, or at least they don't, until they see me without my socks on.
