Australia lost its first ICC tournament final in 15 years as it went down to South Africa by five wickets in the World Test Championship (WTC) summit clash at Lord's on Saturday.
The Proteas became the first team since England in 2010 during the T20 World Cup to outclass the Aussies in a high-pressure finale, and the fourth overall.
West Indies and Sri Lanka were the first two teams to achieve the feat, beating Australia in the final of the 1975 World Cup and the 1996 World Cup, respectively.
Australia has only lost four out of 14 ICC tournament finals. Meanwhile, South Africa lifted its first ICC trophy since the 1998 KnockOut Trophy win, ending a 27-year title drought.
