Kanpur: DPS Azad Nagar secured a place in the semi-finals of the Late Atmaram Agarwal inter-school cricket tournament from Group B, held at the TSH ground on Monday.In their final pool league match, DPS Azad Nagar outplayed Guru Har Rai Academy by 53 runs, emerging as the first semi-finalist of the tournament. Batting first, Azad Nagar posted a total of 186 for 6 in their 20 overs. In response, Guru Har Rai Academy managed 133 runs in their 20 overs. Shreshtha Yadav was adjudged the man of the match.In Group D, DPS Kalyanpur, after being put into bat, scored 148 for 8 and defeated Pratap International School by 86 runs. Subsequently, Kalyanpur's bowlers restricted Pratap International School to 62 runs. Aman Chaudhary was declared the man of the match for his outstanding performance, taking five wickets for 11 runs.Methodist School overcame DPS Unnao by a significant margin of 134 runs in the third tie of the day. Batting first, Methodist posted a healthy score of 194 runs in 15 overs, with Kanishk displaying aggressive batting by scoring 91 runs in just 38 balls. In response, DPS Unnao's team collapsed on just 60 runs. Ayush and Yatharth Pandey took four and three wickets respectively. Kanishk was named the man of the match.In badminton, Rishabh and Shreyanshi clinched the men's and women's singles titles at the third Cosco Kanpur District Senior Badminton Championship, which concluded on Sunday.In the men's final, Rishabh outplayed Pratham Singh after losing the first game 9-21. Rishabh then triumphed with scores of 21-19 and 21-18. Later, Rishabh, partnering with Akhilesh Kumar, defeated Amritmay Vishwas and Brajmani Singh with scores of 21-12 and 21-13 to win the men's doubles title.The mixed doubles title was secured by Anuj Gautam and Priya Dwivedi, who defeated Akhilesh Kumar and Ishika Srivastava with scores of 13-21, 21-14, and 21-10. Shreyanshi Ranjan overcame Anukriti Tandon by scores of 15-21, 21-14, and 21-16 to win the women's singles title. Additionally, pairing with Priya Dwivedi, she won the doubles title by beating Ishika Srivastava and Janhvi Saluja with scores of 21-9 in both games. Prakrati Mehrotra won the 35+ title by defeating Nidhi Kanodia with scores of 21-16 and 21-19 in the final.Selection trials for hockey teams: Selection trials for district and divisional level teams for the state-level women's hockey championship will be held at Green Park on August 19.
