Spokane, Wash. - Hoopfest, the world's largest 3-on-3 basketball tournament, is gearing up for its annual event on June 28-29. Leslie Cogley, the sponsorship manager for Hoopfest, explained the intricate process of staging and setting up the hoops across the city.
Cogley detailed how the hoops are initially staged at their warehouse before being distributed throughout Spokane. "Our site director creates load maps in the office, which are then used to stage the hoops using forklifts," Cogley said. Each hoop is sponsored, and sponsors are contacted at the beginning of the year to confirm artwork and assess any damage.
Cogley, a Spokane native, shared her enthusiasm for working with Hoopfest. "It's one of the most magical events Spokane gets to put on," she said, emphasizing the community's connection to the event. Hoopfest is not only a significant event for basketball enthusiasts but also a platform for local businesses to gain exposure, with 376 sponsored backboards featuring local companies.
As the event approaches, Hoopfest is seeking volunteers to serve as Court Monitors. This role offers a front-row seat to the action, with training and tools provided. There are 50 spots left, with opportunities to assist in various courts, including youth, high school, and adult games.
