Planning for Independence Day events underway in Muscatine

Plans are underway for the 2025 Fourth of July Celebration in Muscatine, and many of the community's favorite events return this year.

The community parade, coordinated by Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce & Industry, will start at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 4, in downtown Muscatine. The Chamber will be giving away a grand prize of $300 to the Best in Show "Overall" float and $50 to both the Best Vehicle and Mayor's Choice. GMCCI is looking for block captains to help with staging, reach out to chamber@muscatine.com if interested.

Parade registration can be found on the Chamber website at muscatine.com/events/muscatine-4th-of-july-2025/. The deadline to enter is June 27. The parade is $50 for individuals and nonprofits and $100 for businesses and advertisers. Funds raised go towards the fireworks and event expenses.

GMCCI and the Keep Muscatine Beautiful organization have teamed up again for Almost Fireworks Fest on the riverfront from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event features live music, food vendors, beverage tent, bounce houses and more. Following AFF, an Honor Guard ceremony will be held before a live performance by the Muscatine Symphony Orchestra. At dusk, the fireworks show will be presented over the Mississippi River.

"Let's come together as a community to show our patriotism and honor those who have served our country. Bring your family and friends for a day of fun and celebration," said GMCCI President and CEO and Mayor of Muscatine Brad Bark.

In addition to GMCCI's events, Musser Public Library will host the Children's Parade downtown beginning at 9 a.m. New this year is the Free Throws & Freedom: Red, White & Ball 3v3 Youth Tournament from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the riverfront basketball courts.
