Robert Laskey's guest column regarding the Charlie Kirk murder ("Kirk's death exposes the ugliness and hypocrisy of the left," Sept. 18) hurls accusations which are seriously misplaced.
He talks of people "dancing, laughing, clapping and expressing their glee that a man was shot and killed".
I have seen no such videos, though perhaps some exist somewhere. He writes of "the ugliness of the hearts of people who can't stand different views" which he feels has been exposed to the light of day. So true. We see many examples of this today, which is censorship.
People are not being fired for celebrating Kirk's murder though. They are being fired for quoting Kirk's words.
He said outrageous, hateful and very racist things. Simply stating that fact, or quoting him, gets one fired in this totalitarian and repressive time.

Here is a quote from Kirk; "...We need to be very clear that you're not going to get gun deaths to zero. It will not happen. But I think it's worth it." His words, his belief.
Laskey's hypocrisy is astounding, accusing the "left" of doing exactly what the right-wing hate groups have been doing for years.
It is the left and the moderates who have practiced and preached free speech all along. It is the violent and extreme right who have always preached violence, love of guns and intolerance.
Under Donald Trump's totalitarian leadership, they now practice extreme censorship as well.
