Baraboo may only have about 12,000 residents, but the city boasts cuisines to suit just about any taste.
From award-nominated burgers to a recently-opened Japanese restaurant, the Sauk County seat has fare at its independent restaurants that can suit residents' mood for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
"Baraboo offers a wonderfully diverse dining scene that includes cozy diners, upscale restaurants, burger bars and ethnic fare," Baraboo Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director George Althoff said "When tourists stop in at the Chamber's visitor center looking for dining recommendations, we wow them with all of the great options Baraboo has to offer."
Here are some of the city's best-known independent restaurants:

The Log Cabin Restaurant welcomes guests traveling west on Highway 33 with pies and breakfast in its location on the east end of the city.

Las Milpas, a restaurant and grocery store, offers Mexican and other Latin cuisines along the highway corridor northwest of downtown.
>> Little Tokyo Japanese Restaurant
Little Tokyo Japanese Restaurant opened last year in a small downtown storefront and has sushi and teriyaki dishes, among others.
>> Baraboo Burger Co.
Baraboo Burger Co. has a menu of eight burger recipes and numerous other sandwiches and other bar fare.
Other Baraboo eats
Need more choices? Brothers on Oak, located at 412 Oak Street, has a burger, the "Bro," which earned the bar a spot among eight statewide restaurants in the 2025 Elite Eight of Wisconsin Beef Council's Best Burger Contest. The burger ultimately was not chosen as the winner.
The "Bro" has a chicken sandwich variant, the "Brother Clucker." Brothers on Oak has eight other signature burgers and serves them on buns from its next-door neighbor bakery, Neat-O's Bake Shoppe.
Little Village Cafe is at 146 4th Avenue downtown. It has six salads, four pasta dishes, a goat cheese appetizer, and 16 burgers and sandwiches. Little Village also serves eight chicken and fish entrees, as well as tacos and burritos. The cafe has an extensive wine and beer menu as well.
Wok King is a Chinese restaurant located in West Baraboo at 419 W Pine Street. The Square Tavern is also widely known for its burger and is located next door to Baraboo Burger Co.
