Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, once a key piece of the Brooklyn Nets' rebuild, is making his plan for an NBA return after four seasons away from the league.

Hollis-Jefferson has carved out a solid career overseas since his last NBA stint with the Portland Trail Blazers in 2021. His standout performance for Jordan in the 2023 FIBA World Cup turned heads. He averaged 23.6 points, 7.8 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.2 steals per game on 46.8% shooting, despite shooting just 21.4% from deep.

Hollis-Jefferson's all-around play and leadership drew attention. The 30-year-old forward recently took to social media, openly expressing his desire to earn a training camp invite. The move highlighted his growth both on and off the court.

"It's been a long journey. I feel like, given the time I was in the NBA, I think it was very important for me to self-reflect and think about all the things that I could have done differently that kind of shaped me into the person I am today," Hollis-Jefferson said. " It was one of those days where your wheels are turning. And I said, man, I should be in the NBA, dude. I know everyone knows how hard I work, how much I care about basketball, but that's really where it stemmed from."

With Brooklyn likely out of the mix due to a full roster, Hollis-Jefferson's return hopes now rest on another team taking a chance. His recent international play might remain the spark he needs.

Ricky Council IV signed a one-year deal with the Brooklyn Nets just days after being waived by the Philadelphia 76ers, per ESPN's Shams Charania. The 24-year-old wing offers upside despite a tough 2024-25 season.

Council averaged 7.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 17.1 minutes, but shot just 38.2% from the field and 25.8% from three. His increased role last season came mainly due to injuries in the team rotation.

Brooklyn views the Council as a low-risk filler in the rebuilding process. The deal will likely be a non-guaranteed, minimum contract with no significant cap impact.
