Bishop McGuinness, Dudley and Andrews each were top 10 finishers in the competition for the Wells Fargo Cup for the 2024-25 school year, the NCHSAA has announced.

McGuinness finished second with 382.5 points. The Villains earned a state championship in girls dual-team tennis, a state runner-up in girls lacrosse and a state semifinal in girls basketball.

The Villains also had state quarterfinal finishes for boys basketball, boys soccer and boys dual team tennis, in addition to a seventh place finish in boys cross country and an eight place finish in girls swimming.

Dudley earned 262.5 points, good for sixth place. Its boys and girls track teams swept both the indoor and outdoor state championships, and its boys wrestling team was the individual tournament state runner-up. The Panthers football team reached the state quarterfinals.

Andrews came in eighth in 2A with 175 points after its boys track team finished fourth in outdoor and tied for fifth in indoor and its girls track team finished second in outdoor and seventh in indoor. The school's girls basketball team reached the state quarterfinals.

There also is a Wells Fargo Conference Cup that recognizes conference champions. Grimsley won for the Metro 4A with a state championship in football. McGuinness won for the Northwest Piedmont 1A.

The Wells Fargo Cup recognizes schools for overall athletic performance by classification. Standings are based on results in state championship competition, with points awarded for finishing in the top eight.
