THE Border City Centurions have made history, completing a flawless regular season to be crowned undefeated champions of the Great British Division One and secure automatic promotion to the Premier Division of the National Flag Football League.

While they might be based in Carlisle, the flag football team features a number of players from South West Scotland, including Annan based head coach Nick Weston.

The sport is a non-contact format of American Football, it is rapidly growing and has been cleared for inclusion in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

Entering the final game day on Saturday, the Cents knew three consecutive wins were essential to remain top of the 51-team national table. And they delivered under pressure in emphatic fashion.

They opened with a dominant 75-0 victory over Manchester, went on to dismantle hosts Salford 49-0, and they sealed the day with a 32-19 win over Warrington.

This clean sweep capped off a perfect 19-0-0 season, making the Centurions the only undefeated team in Division One and the number one overall seed across the English, Scottish, and Welsh conferences combined.

"This is a monumental moment for our club, the local sport has waited 37 years for any team to succeed," said coach Weston. The players have shown incredible discipline, resilience, and unity all season. We're proud to represent both sides of the border here, with talent from Annan to Carlisle - it's just a blessing to have a great group of players out there writing history right now."

The Centurions now turn their attention to the National Cup, set to take place in Manchester this September, where they will enter as top seeds.
